IAC VOICE, Volume 4, Issue 1, April 2006, Circulation: 9264

From the Editor

After some technical challenges
that created a long interruption in our ability to
communicate with our members, the IAC VOICE is back!

Hello, I’m Barbra Sundquist, IAC-CC.  I’m honored to
be the new Editor of the IAC Voice.

With this issue, our IAC
President, Natalie Tucker Miller
, IAC-CC brings you
up-to-date with some key happenings at the IAC.  Chief among
those activities has been a complete overhaul of our
database and other computer systems.

Also included in this issue is a
list of all the coaches who have achieved their IAC-CC (IAC
Certified Coach) credential to date. We salute these
masterful coaches!

Starting in May, you can expect
to receive a monthly issue of the IAC VOICE in your email
box.  My first priority as Editor is to answer all the
questions that might be on your mind, such as:

  • What does the IAC offer me?

  • How do I get certified by the
    IAC?

  • What is the difference in the
credentialing from the various coaching associations?

  • I heard about new criteria for
getting certified by the IAC. When will this happen?

We know that getting the IAC-CC
credential is a high priority for many of our members.  To
help you along the way, our Certifying Team, which
currently consists of:

  • Sali Taylor, IAC-CC

  • Nina East, IAC-CC

  • Karen Van Cleve, IAC-CC

  • Barbra Sundquist, IAC-CC

will write a monthly column
called “Certifier’s Corner”.  The column will provide
practical guidance regarding mysterious issues such as “what
exactly are the Certifiers looking for in Step 2 tapes,
anyhow?” and “how can I relax and “coach naturally” when I
know I’m being tested?”

You can also look forward to
connecting with the international coaching community through
feature articles in our “Another Voice” column.  And
Janice Hunter
, a coach from Scotland, will contribute a
regular column called "Coaching Moments" which takes a
thoughtful, and sometimes lighthearted, look at how coaching
can be interwoven into our daily lives.

The IAC Voice is the main way we
communicate with our nearly 10,000 members.  I am eager to
hear from you, particularly if you have a comment about
anything you’ve read in the VOICE (your Letter to the Editor
may be edited and printed in the Voice).  And if you
know of a coach or coaching organization that is doing
something innovative to bring coaching to the world, please
let me know!

Drop me a line at

voice@certifiedcoach.org

You can expect to receive your
next issue of the VOICE in the first week of May.

Until then, enjoy!

Warmly,

Barbra Sundquist, IAC-CC

Letter from the President
president@certifiedcoach.org

Hello, I'm Natalie
Tucker Miller
, IAC-CC.  Since January 2006, I've
had the honor of leading the strong, dedicated and
extraordinary Board of Governors and team of volunteers who
serve the International Association of Coaching.

The IAC's contribution to the
coaching profession, the well-being of clients, and our
international constituency is stronger than ever.  The
behind the scenes initiatives that have been manifesting,
support and enhance this commitment.  I'd like to share some
of those endeavors here:

  • Our soon-to-launch, upgraded
    website.  Matthew Clulow (www.clulowassociates.com)
has worked tirelessly to create a new look and feel, which
    is reflected in this newsletter.

  • An international team of
coaches involved in our pursuit of evolving standards and
    measures of coaching mastery.

  • Strategic planning that will
ensure a continued rigorous and high quality
    certification.

  • A return of a regularly
    scheduled newsletter, the IAC VOICE.

  • Dedication and commendation of
our exceptional certifying board, whose members have
donated countless hours of their time refining the
    certification process.

  • A decision to increase fees
for Step 2 certification to $350 effective June 1, 2006.
This indicates a move in the direction of more fairly
compensating our Certifier's time (and in the future the
fees will be further increased to better reflect the real
cost of certification)  Our appreciation to our
devoted Certifiers is immeasurable.  Get to know them
    here:

without her" Membership Team Chair, Michelle Casto,

greetings, or pats on the back!

Of course, our Board Members
would love to hear from you as well. Visit them here:

And our most distinguished
appreciation to Michael "Coop" Cooper, Ruth Ann
Harnisch
, IAC-CC and Keri McGinnis, our outgoing
board members, and Barbara Mark, currently serving on
the Board as Past President, who gave untold amounts of
their time and resources to keep the dream of
performance-based certification
alive and viable!

Until next time,
