Lessons from the Certifiers

A special consideration for IAC-CCs who never studied the Masteries
by Natalie Tucker Miller, IAC-CC

Question: Many IAC-certified coaches never studied the Masteries. As we file our Learning Agreements, how will that play out?

I love how IAC members think of everything!

The Masteries, though not identical, are not completely unrelated to the Proficiencies, the ICF Core Competencies, and other models of coaching that focus on mastery. For purposes of the Learning Agreement, the coach will use the language of the Masteries, which you can learn via the E-Book, the Notecard and/or from the collection of certification articles that the certifiers have contributed to the IAC VOICE over the years. The coach can then align the Masteries concepts and the language with coaching activities they are planning on highlighting in their agreement.

Since the Masteries were developed by a team of international coaches and are under continuous research and development, it’s important for IAC coaches to familiarize themselves with these ever-evolving skill sets via the E-book and other supportive materials, which will guide them to create their individualized continued learning plan.

Note: Members, be sure to check back often to make sure you have the most current versions of these documents, which are upgraded periodically.

As for what this means for a coach who studied under the Proficiencies, members please click through for my thoughts.
